Good advice to reexamine supply chain vulnerabilities in China. Chinese Customs has a long history of fiddling with imports and exports of foreign companies when it suits their purposes. Besides jump-starting Christmas vacation season for foreigners in China and rethinking biz trips, foreign firms should rehearse "dawn raid" procedures to avoid mistaken practices if people and facilities are subjected to scrutiny.

This trade war is going to end badly so long as Trump believes more tariff is the answer and so long as Lighthizer et al remain the chief China whisperers. And, it's not just about the trade war. Trump wants open access to China's market but will use every means to suppress Huawei from access to the world market. Basically, the US is taking the whack a mole approach to keep China from getting ahead on any technology front. This is going to get uglier by the day.

Yes Huawei is less reliant on US tech than ZTE. But it is reliant on British tech (ARM & ARM affiliates). HMG can switch off Huawei just as Trump could switch off ZTE
