Bill, I wonder if you’re picking up any shift towards restricting outbound tourism from PRC? The tourism deficit is a very large part of the decline in the current account balance, and requiring external funding diminishes Beijing’s room for manoeuvre. Any thoughts?
We hear from OTAs that the tourist visa quota to engineers and IT professionals is reduced by US Consulate in China. For example, if you work for Huawei and want to go to Hawaii for Golden Week, your odds of getting the tourism visa are low.
