I think Bill will likely translate 宣传 differently depending on the context. That for commercial purposes is likely publicity, that linked to official bodies or various apparatus of the state, as propaganda.

Thanks. That's helpful. After seeing his note, my first thought was, oh shit how often have I used 宣传 to mean publicity?
